Somak is passionate about engaging with and supporting entrepreneurs at various stages of their journey. He loves discussing business plans and will spend hours brainstorming with the team and entrepreneurs to identify key challenges and come up with creative solutions. Paradoxically, he enjoys solitude, and enjoys reading at long stretches (and propagating excerpts from latest reads!) and heading out on road trips to the mountains. He loves travelling and exploring local cuisines across countries and countryside with a zeal that has people around him convinced about his ability to make an alternate profession out of it someday. Somak has been one of 3 professional co-founders of Yes Bank (www.yesbank.in) and was Group President – Corporate Finance and Development Banking. As of fiscal 2011, he was responsible for 70% of the Bank’s assets (USD 12bn) and over 50% of the Bank’s profits (USD 0.2bn). As a Co-Founder, he was a key member of the Bank’s Executive Management, the Management Credit Committee and the Asset Liability Committee for over 8 years and emerged as an exceptional leader in building start-up businesses and taking them to scale. Somak holds an MBA Degree in Finance from FMS Delhi and B.E. Chemical Engineering from the University of Mumbai. He is an Advanced Leadership Fellow 2011 from Harvard University
Aditi strongly believes that for-profit enterprises are the engines of access creation at scale. Her prior work includes testing credit scoring models for microfinance borrowers in urban slums and a consulting assignment with IFAD around econometric evaluation of the financial performance of Asian MFIs. At Contrarian, she’s a part of the investment team supporting the Partner in evaluation of investment opportunities while also being an integral part of fundraising activities. Aditi is an exceptionally strong and motivated individual and her best attribute is that she cares for people and brings an amazing level of empathy to the table. In dealing with our multiple stakeholders this is a very important quality and an important balancing act to the hard-nosed quantitative approach of her senior team members. Aditi started her career with the Microfinance Institutions Group at YES Bank in 2010 and helped the group make their foray in the affordable housing business the following year. She was a part of the 3 member team that handled a book of USD 100mn across 14 MFIs and built a portfolio of USD 20mn across low income housing finance companies and developers in fiscal 2012. She holds an MBA in Finance from FMS, Delhi and a B. tech. in Mechanical and Automation Engineering from Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology, Indraprastha University, Delhi

Aditya is a petrol head who loves discussing business ideas and speak with entrepreneurs at great lengths on their vision. He believes that there is great value that can be created by making our world simpler by leveraging technology. Start-ups have the potential to disrupt the way markets function and in doing that create value for the service-receiver as well as the service-provider making it a win-win situation for all parties in the ecosystem. At Contrarian, he is part of the investment team supporting the Associate Principal and Partner in evaluation of investment opportunities. Aditya has a collection of old Indian currency notes and likes to keep adding to his collection. In his free time he likes to go on long drives away from the traffic in the city.
He is a Chartered Accountant and has cleared all three levels of CFA. He holds a B.Com. Accounts and Finance from Podar College, Mumbai University.
